The facility that once housed Laurel High School, which closed in 1989, is now a public basketball gymnasium and community center in Laurel, Ind., Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. As Laurel's livelihood dwindles, the gymnasium is a piece of history and symbol of hope for community members who have fought to maintain it.

The Morocco gym held it’s first varsity basketball game since 1967 on December 15, 2018. The gym was built in 1936 as home to the Morocco Beavers.
Over 8,000 fans filled Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium in Seymour to watch the Class 4A regional in 2018. The main attraction was New Albany senior Romeo Langford.

Broad Ripple High School gym saw its last game in 2017.
The former Bourbon High School gym in 2010. The Marshall County gym was built in 1928 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012 and serves as a community building for the town. The bell anchored at the front of the building original hunt in the bell tower of Bourbon College.

Muncie Fieldhouse was built in 1928, the 7,635-seat capacity was for many years the largest high school basketball venue in the country.
Paris Crossing High School gym in Jennings County in 2010. The gym was had a relatively short life, built in 1953 and last used as a high school gym in 1961.
The George Washington High School Continentals gym is home two two IHSAA state championship teams - 1964-65 and 1968-69.

Lebanon's Memory Hall was built in 1931 and last used as a high school gym in 1968. It was one of the gyms featured in the movie "Hoosiers."

The famed Wigwam in Anderson hosted its final game in February 2011. Anderson had lost 11 games in a row, but its last game in the gym was a win. When the horn sounded on the IndiansÕ 47-42 victory over Bishop Chatard, fans rushed the court. The current Wigwam (the first one burned) opened in 1961 as the second largest high school gym behind only New Castle's. The Wigwam has been bought by a real estate company that specializes in Section 42 affordable housing.

George Boyd, principal at Shelbyville High School looks over the school’s new 6,000 seat, oval-shaped gymnasium in 1967. The gym was renamed the William L. Garrett Memorial Gymnasium in 1974.

The Springville gym was built in 1936 and last used as a high school gym in 1942 when Springville students started attending Oolitic. The building was then used as a community center. Farmers in the area paid their taxes with fieldstone to construct the gym. Fire devastated the building in 2016, leaving just the shell of the gym.

The old style gym that served Bristol High School in Elkhart County was built in the early 1920s. Banners of area schools hang from ceiling. The school now houses the Elkhart County Historical Museum and the former gym is used as a community room.
Retro action: Brownsburg plays West Lafayette at the old Brownsburg gym in 2008. Some Bulldogs alumni attended the game and were recognized between the JV and varsity games. The gym housed Bulldogs games between 1957-2001, and later became a city parks recreation center.

The By Hey Arena at Fort Wayne North Side was named for Byard Hey, former coach at North Side for 31 years. The gym was dedicated in 2004. The former gymnasium hosted the NBA's Fort Wayne Pistons until 1952. That gym was repurposed into the schools library.
The North Side Gym on the campus of North Side Middle School in Elkhart is the home court for Elkhart Memorial and Elkhart Central varsity basketball teams. When it was built in 1957, it was the largest high school gym in the country seating 8,200. After renovations the number dropped to 7,373, but still putting the gym in the number eight spot on the top fifteen largest gyms in the country.

The 2004 Class 3A boys basketball champion Mater Dei Wildcats of Evansville are honored by family and friends at their homecoming celebration in the gymnasium. Built in the late 1940s, the gym seats 2,016.
The 5,509-seat domed Case Arena in Frankfort hosted Lafayette Central Catholic and Daleville in a 2008 regional game. Central Catholic's Cameron Loepker shoots over Daleville's Chris Everling. On the other side of the basket, Dru Anthrop boxes out on Tyler Phillips.

Built in 1924, "The Cave" in Mishawaka, is Indiana's oldest high school gym still in use. It's low ceiling and close walls give it the tight feeling of being in a cave, but is known by players as a "shooters gym".
The Morristown High School gym was sold out for the showdown between No. 1 ranked Morristown and No. 3 Hauser in 1998.  It was the first time in the school’s history the gym has been sold out for a basketball game.

Hatchet House, Washington The Zeller brothers  Luke, Tyler and Cody  all called the Hatchet House home and all were named IndyStar Indiana Mr. Basketball. The facility was built in 1967 in basketball-crazy Washington with a capacity of 7,090 fans. The original Hatchet House, built in 1925, still stands next door and is used as the junior high facility.

Southport Fieldhouse. Built in 1957 (the first game was played there in 1958) with a capacity of 7,124, the Southport Fieldhouse is high school basketball perfection.
