Howard Humes – The 5-10 “Bugsy” Humes was named to the Indiana All-Stars team as a senior in 1964-65 as he averaged 27 points per game. He tied a school-record with a 46-point game and finished his career with a four-year total of 1,710 points, which ranks fourth in program history. He was a freshman on the 1962 team that reached the final four, led by older brother Larry Humes. The Cubs won sectional titles each of the next three years. After playing at Idaho Southern Junior College, where he averaged 14 points per game, Humes was a key reserve on the 1968 Indiana State team that was the College Division national runner-up. He averaged 9.9 points per game. Humes was named to the Silver Anniversary team in 1990.

Larry Humes – The 6-4 Humes was a four-year starter at Madison, earning Mr. Basketball honors in 1962. Humes scored 1,864 career points, averaging 25.8 points as a junior and more than 27 points per game as a senior. He was also a standout in baseball and track. Madison was 97-5 in his four seasons and made it to the state finals in 1962, falling to Evansville Bosse in the afternoon game. Humes went on to become the all-time leading scorer at the University of Evansville, scoring 2,236 career points in three seasons. The two-time College Division All-American averaged 32.5 points as a junior and 31.0 points a senior in 1965-66. Humes was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991 and was inducted this year into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame.
